Promising Le Mans Debut for Genesis Magma Racing

The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans marked an important milestone for Genesis Magma Racing.

The South Korean manufacturer made its debut in the Hypercar class with two cars, the #17 and #19. Although the team is still relatively new to top-level endurance racing, it immediately demonstrated speed, professionalism, and strong potential throughout the race weekend.

The Genesis #19 showed the strongest start of the two entries. After an excellent qualifying session, the car began the race from sixth on the grid and consistently ran inside the top ten during the opening hours. The #17 also impressed with solid pace and flawless pit execution. Both cars remained competitive among established manufacturers in the Hypercar field, during both the daytime stints and the demanding night sessions at Circuit de la Sarthe.

Throughout the race, Genesis adopted a controlled strategy, prioritizing reliability and experience over taking unnecessary risks. This approach paid off for the #19, which, despite a few minor technical issues and the challenging conditions, continued running without major setbacks. The drivers delivered a strong and consistent performance, keeping the car out of trouble.

The #17, however, experienced a more unfortunate race. After a promising opening sixteen hours, the car was struck by a suspension issue. The problem proved irreparable at trackside, forcing the entry to retire. It was a disappointing end to a race in which a top-ten finish had been within reach.

Nevertheless, Genesis Magma Racing could look back on a successful debut at Le Mans. The #19 crossed the finish line in thirteenth place overall after 24 demanding hours, while the pace shown by the #17 highlighted the strength of the overall package. With a classified finish, valuable experience, and encouraging performance, Genesis has laid a solid foundation for future success at Le Mans.
